As we completed the first leg of our journey to Vancouver BC, we had no idea that we were rollin’ into one of the best rv resorts in California that sit on a river. Here along Hwy 99 in the central valley of California sat one of the best kept secrets among the camping community in this state.
If you like stream fishing, you’re going to really enjoy your stay here as you pull out the rods and tackle box and walk down to this scenic spot on the beautiful Merced River. Bring a lot of redworms and nightcrawlers because you’re gonna see a lot of fish swimming around early in the morning sun and later as the sun begins to set in the west.
Access to this campground is pretty effortless as you get off the 99 at Collier and head west for a few seconds and then turn left onto Campground Rd and follow it to the end. If you’re a product of the 50’s and 60’s you’ll remember this area and the infamous Blueberry Hill Cafe off of Robin Rd that later was torn down to make room for the freeway. In those days Americana was rich along this stretch of the road, as rich as the Blueberry syrup we poured on our waffles many a Sunday night after church.
Here at Merced River RV Resort there are many long term residents, many of them very interesting to talk to and a joy to get to know. At the enclosed dog park, your pup will have a chance to socialize with other K-9’s as you watch them run and play in this large grassy and shaded area.
After a pretty rough ride in the truckers’ lanes from Riverside, Ca to this sleepy little picturesque campground, our first evening on the road was a very relaxing and pleasant experience along this beautiful stretch of the Merced River.
Be sure and add Merced River RV Resort to your list of some of the best river camping in California. For more information please visit http://www.mercedriverrvresort.com/
